You say “vague and shapeless threat of terror.” You have lost all of your kudos just as assuredly as over 3000 people (worldwide) have lost their lives to this “vague and shapeless threat of terror.” You ought to be ashamed!

Kent, you hold out a great vision, a dream as such, and with great compassion and creativity. Unfortunately, like a lot of plans and well-meaning proposals, lack of political support along with commitment of money and resources leave it stillborn. The current administration has it’s focus on war and terrorism, on the middle east, on Bin Laden and is blind to New Orleans. The taxes extracted from the hard-working people of New Orleans and others devasetated by Katrina have been committed by the administration to wage war, leaving no monies for the rebuilding of Louisiana’s Nurmemburg.

Kent, not only will I send this to my friends who are still so traumatized by Katrina and feeling so abandoned by our governments at all levels, but I will send a copy to Chris Rose at the Times-Picayune newspaper in New Orleans. Chris has published a book of his editorials following Katrina entitled “1 Dead in the Attic.” He, like you, feels an obligation to speak the simple truths which are often unpopular. Thank you so much for this piece as well as your “Meditation on Katrina.” You will never know how much voices like yours give hundreds and hundreds of people comfort and hope in the midst of continuing despair and feelings of abandonment.
